Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Gone are the days when everybody was huddled in one room to watch the TV or the latest video release. With all spare TVs and VCRs people own today, you can consider just about any room in the house an entertainment hub. If you have an extra TV, VCR, or perhaps powered speakers, remember, they need surge protection. Just like the equipment you use in your "main" entertainment area, these components are vulnerable to power surges that can damage their ability to perform, or cripple them entirely. With Monster's Audio/Video PowerCenter AV200, you can place your TV, powered speakers, or VCR in a separate location away from your main system and still be protected from power surges (with a high 1110 joule rating). Monster's Dual Mode Plus design is the heart of AV200's superior surge protection. Here's how it works. When a surge, or other excessively high voltage, hits the wires that carry power to your equipment, Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) will limit the voltage forwarded to the connected equipment to a safe level. Then, if that voltage is high for too long, a thermal fuse will disconnect the line wire from the connected equipment permanently. This assures that the connected equipment will not be exposed to any damaging high voltages. AV200 also features Monster's stage 1 Clean Power filters to prevent AC power pollution from degrading performance, so you get better sound and picture.AV200 features the same features found in many of Monster's popular, full - sized Home Theater PowerCenters in a unit that's smaller than many remote controllers! Pick up an AV200 today and discover the benefits of Monster Power Protection.

4 out of 5 stars Great little surge protector   February 23, 2008

This is a great item, works great for the tv and PS3 in my bedroom. Be aware though, there are two ground prongs on the back of the plug, it will require both spaces on a duplex receptacle.

If you don't have room for, don't need, or can't afford multiple-outlet clean-power strip devices, go with this one. It is compact and inexpensive. I use the two outlets for my TV and surround sound receiver, and use a standard power strip from another outlet for the rest of my devices.

3 out of 5 stars Works well but a few minor complaints   October 8, 2008

The power center works well allthough I have not had any electrical storms or faults to truly test it yet. The few areas that I would take issue with are
1)the outlets in my house are the rectangular "designer" kind with no screw in the middle. The AV 200 uses a screw in the center to secure it to the wall outlet. I have not had issues with it falling out but could be a problem.

2) Would not fit behind my main TV because of the tight space between the outlet on the wall and where the TV is hung.

3) As with all Monster Power products I have, the recepticles are extremely hard to insert a plug into. I guess it is better then falling out but they need to find a happy medium between not falling out and forcing in.

1 out of 5 stars complete bust   April 9, 2008

The installation instructions included in the product package (a clamshell package; I'm not talking about the outer shipping box) were not for the purchased product. They were for a more complex product that really did need installation instructions. This product should have been a simple plug-it-into-the-wall-outlet device, but it has a long, fixed-in-place screw centered between its 2 sockets. You must remove the faceplate from the wall to install it. You can't remove the screw, and you can't NOT fasten it--it is too long. When I tried to fasten that center screw, something went wrong, because there was a snap and a big spark. I think the device got fried. It's now sitting in its shipping container on a table, making me mad every time I see it.
