Great for the price. May 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Not too bad. If you're in the market for a dvd player than this isn't a bad purchase for $300. Not as fancy as the others but it does the job. Has rca outputs for everything minus subwoofer. That isn't too important unless you plan on competing in audio. I have this wired up in my envoy and really like it as do my kids. Screen is bright enough. The usb input is awesome, allowing you to play music files recorded to things like mp3 players and flash drives. Overall a great dvd player if you don't need the name brand.
Decent, not great September 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This was the least expensive Double-din dvd/radio I could find with a front panel AUX input. It works well, but the system is built to only show video when the car is stopped, and does this by hooking up to the parking break wire. This seems to be the common setup for video systems, but I have a manual transmissions, so this doesn't work for me, and so I'm dealing with Boss support to find an alternative.
The touch screen is responsive but the interface is very no-frills, with a radio screen that reminds me of the old atari 2600 video games. While playing a CD you get a nice Boss background though.
My car has a standard 2-din slot, but the trim is oddly shaped, and the body of this radio is also slightly too large to fit the trim/install kit that goes with my car. It appears that this radio's face is designed to be it's own trim, so it I will need to work up something custom to make it look good in my car, and anyone without a regular rectangular trim in their car may need to do the same.
There's nothing in the manual or specs about GPS, but when you hold down the "Band" button, it switches to GPS mode. I'm not sure if this means there's a way to hook up a GPS unit to it, or if they just use the same software as other models that do support GPS. In this case, the screen just turns blue, like a TV without a signal.
